Steered by passionate people with a common purpose, Orient Register of Shipping (ORIENT Class) is an independent Classification Society dedicated to the safety and quality of life and property at sea and the protection and preservation of the marine environment in the Philippines.
ORIENT Class was conceived and organized by Filipinos who are dedicated for the sustainable development of the domestic shipping industry in response to MARINA‚Äôs call for a strong, modern, safe and competitive domestic merchant fleet.  ORIENT Class is committed to the principle that in the maritime industry, the existence of a professional classification society providing proficient survey and classification services shall redound to the benefit of shipowners, the shippers and the public in general.
Atty. Manuel A. Tiuseco founded Orient Class and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on 13 September 2000 under SEC Register. No. A200012480.
On 02 April 2001, ORIENT Class was initially granted a Temporary Authority to perform statutory survey, classification and certification functions of Philippine Registered vessels in the domestic trade. ORIENT Class was finally accredited by MARINA as a classification society on 18 September 2001.
